Commander Eric Dudash

Comrades/Auxiliary Members,

As most of you are aware, we spent the last three days in Montgomery ensuring our voice was heard in regard to Senate Bill 67 (SB67) and House Bill 154 (HB154). I am pleased to report that our efforts were a success. The Senate, after accepting various amendments from the Senate Floor, carried over their bill, stating they needed more time to talk to the Veterans of the state and get the bill right. Additionally, the House brought the bill up at committee today and allowed a public hearing where both the Legislative Chair Schmidbauer and myself provided testimony, along with the American Legion, DAV and several other VSO’s and Veterans. After our testimony, the House Chair, also carried over their bill, stating he wanted to talk with the Veterans of the state and get the bill right. We made great progress and the communications with our legislators will continue. We will be back in Montgomery next week and should have an update on both SB67 and HB154 to you by Wednesday of next week.
