John Tuck is currently the Department of Alabama Judge Advocate. He has been a member of the VFW for 20 years and is a Gold Legacy Life Member of Jimmy Harris Post 6837 in Boaz. John has served in multiple positions at the post and district levels, including Post Trustee, Surgeon, Judge Advocate, Junior Vice Commander, and Senior Vice Commander. He has been recognized as a three-time Post All-State and All-American Commander, a two-time District All-American Commander, and a one-time All-State Commander.
John joined the Army in 2003 as a 92A Automated Logistics Specialist and was cross trained as a 63B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. He was stationed in Korea, Fort Benning, GA, and Fort Campbell, KY. John deployed to Iraq twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His awards include Combat Action Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expiditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Korean Defense Service Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
John lives in Boaz, Alabama, with his wife, Christie Tidwell Tuck, who is active at all levels of the Auxiliary. They have three children and five grandchildren.
John has a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Alabama in Huntsville and works for the Veterans Health Administration at the Guntersville Community-Based Outpatient Clinic.
