SUICIDE HELP

Notification on Intermittent 988 Access Issues

The VA has been informed that some limited callers are having intermittent trouble accessing the 988 Hotline. This can directly impact veterans who are trying to reach the Veterans Crisis Line by calling 988 and then pressing 1, so we’re monitoring closely, and the federal government is working to get this fixed immediately.

Veterans can reach the Veterans Crisis Line by dialing 877-267-6030 anytime!

You may call 1-800-MYVA411 and press 7.

Veterans can also text the crisis line at 838255.

Veterans can chat at VeteransCrisisLine.net/chat.

If you have hearing loss, call TTY: 800-799-4889.

You can also take these actions:

  • Call 911.

  • Go to the nearest emergency room.

  • Go directly to your nearest VA medical center. It does not matter what your discharge status is or if you are enrolled in VA health care.

The VA is putting up alerts across its websites and social media to ensure that veterans in need know how to reach us. Additionally, we will work across the federal government to do everything we can to identify and reach any Veterans who may have had trouble accessing the VCL.

If you need support, do not wait; the help is ready!
