Youth Scholarships

Our youth scholarships challenge students to reflect on our nation's history, their ideals and principles, and their own experiences based on a patriotic theme.

Scout of the Year

Each year, the VFW honors three young people - from Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Sea Scouts, or Venturing Crew - who have demonstrated exceptional citizenship in school, scouting, and the community.

JROTC Cadet of the Year

Each year, the VFW honors young people from JROTC units in local high schools who have demonstrated exceptional citizenship in their leadership and education training and in the community.

Teacher of the Year

Each year, the VFW recognizes three exceptional teachers—one each from the elementary, junior high, and high school levels—for their outstanding commitment to teaching Americanism and instilling patriotism in their students.

Public Service Recognition

Each year, the VFW honors public servants like business leaders, law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, and dispatchers for their service to our local communities.
