Quartermaster - Army
Jim Steddum joined the VFW in 2014 at John Wiley Brock Post 6683 of Enterprise, Alabama. Jim was elected Post Adjutant/Quartermaster in 2021. He was elected District 7 Adjutant/Quartermaster in 2023 and the Department Quartermaster in 2024. Jim currently works as an Army Civilian as the Subject Matter Expert for the Leadership and Management Department of the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College. He is the managing editor for Strength in Knowledge: The Warrant Officer Journal.
Jim Joined the Army Reserve in 1987 as a Chaplain's Assistant (E3) and the Active component in 1990 as a Paralegal Specialist (E4). Jim graduated from the Warrant Officer Candidate School in November 2000 (Blue Class 01-01). He has served at every echelon, from Battalion during Operation Desert Storm to Army Service Component Commands in the Pacific and the Theater headquarters in Operations Enduring Freedom and Inherent Resolve. 2019, after 14 assignments in six countries, he retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service, culminating in his tenure as the 10th Chief Warrant Officer of The Judge Advocate General's Corps (CW5, MOS 270A). Jim is a lifelong learner with a Master of Business Administration, a graduate certificate in National Security Studies from the U.S. Army War College, and a certificate in Executive Leadership from the University of Alabama. He is a doctoral candidate in strategic leadership at Liberty University. Jim is married to Katrina, his wife of 37 years. They have three adult children, six granddaughters, and a teen daughter at home.
